Aaron and the Acorn

Aaren and the Acorn
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Aaren found an acorn that had fallen from an oak
A big and royal oak it was, in the corner of a park
It seemed to call to him from among the grass and leaves
A creaky wooden voice, from a rather smallish seed
So Aaren went unto the nut and knelt down carefully
What could it be about that thing
That makes me stop right here and think
That I should take it with me now
And plant it home where it will grow into a mighty tree?
Take me! Take me! Take me! Take me!
Take me cried the acorn
Take me home with you
Take me, Take me, Take me, Take me home with you!
Put me in your pocket or tie me to your shoe.
I will grow into an oak so high and wide, you’ll see
and you can climb and carve and cut and satisfy your dreams
It looks like all the other nuts scattered among the ifs and buts
And ands and ands and ands
And if this nut is so darn special, something truly monumental
Surely it has other important plans
And Aaren wondered why the acorn picked him out of all
He wasn’t very colorful, nor was he very tall
Take me! Take me! Why don’t you take me?
Don’t walk away and leave me
I’ll die beside this tree
Another oak this ground will not concede.
Another oak this ground will not concede.
The acorn took his hard beret
And flung it fast in Aaren’s way
Knocking him to his feet Leaving poor Aaren bleeding in the street.

I, Deeya

I, Deeya
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Stricken by a stroke of sudden brilliance
Or sensation that you really have to share
Like a flash of genius from the ethers
Keep it to yourself, if you dare
now Shut your trap, plug that pie hole, keep it under wraps
Protect this little jewel in your skull,
For I am but a seed right now,
Button your lip and I’ll show you how
To make me grow to something wonderful
I am Dee-Ah. I-D-ee-ah, just a tiny speck
That sparkles when it’s darkle and it whirls around your neck
I’m like a tiny magnet pulling everything like me
Into your squiggly grey mass in perfect symmetry
I gather all the good stuff, as long as you hold your tongue
It could take a while yet, you see I’m still quite young
Now trust me, please, I’ll surely grow into your dream fulfilled
But spill the beans and you will see your genius violently killed
I am Dee-Ah. I-D-ee-ah, just a tiny speck
That sparkles when it’s darkle and it whirls around your neck
I’m like a tiny magnet pulling everything like me
Into your squiggly grey mass in perfect symmetry

Boring Old Bliss

Boring Old Bliss
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Bliss was a very happy, silly old guy
Always felt like smiling, and never knew why
He often thought he was a woman, which didn’t bother him
When she thought she had a bosom, the thought would make him grin
Never did he have a sentence-worth of words to say
So rarely did a person come to visit or to play
Most thought old Bliss was boring, without a wish or goal
The neighbors were convinced he was a very poor old soul
Boring,, smiling, snoring
Time passing by, without a reason why
And yet Bliss feels at peace,
Smile plastered on her face
Every day seems to be same,
Never a reason to complain
Bliss was a very happy, silly old guy
Agreed with everything, and never knew why
She often thought she was a boy, much younger than she’s now
But if you asked him then, he would not have known how
To be so boring,
, smiling, snoring
Time passing by, without a reason why
And yet Bliss feel at peace,
Smile plastered on her face
Every day feels just the same,
Never a reason to complain
And yet contrast is fine
Like falling down a mine
Because you never know
Where you might find the gold
Where you might find the gold
Bliss
Boring old Bliss

Bob’s Silent Protest
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Bob made a sign
In his mind
Spray-painted orange and blue
Carried it around
Never touched the ground
He knew just what to do
He didn’t need to yell and scream
But secretly he did indeed
Mouth opened wide with perfect teeth
He marched the cosmic streets
Proclaiming certainty
Assured his message would be received
And one day all would be relieved
Of their misdirected activities
Orange and blue
Orange and blue
Every letter painted new
Only Bob could read the text
But in his heart he knew the next
Generation would understand
That underneath their dying skin
Much to the narcissist’s chagrin
Every woman is a man

Jean, Genius
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
All forms of life on Earth begin with Jean
Her only purpose here is to survive
She’s really very good at knowing how
To replicate and keep herself alive
Jean, Genius, she is, Beyond the organism
Selfish as can be, Surfing on Mugwump jism
Taking every chance, To shift her algorithm
Learning every dance, Eugenic hedonism
Jean, Jean Genius, what makes you so intent to thrive?
Jean Genius, Jean Genius?
What is the origin of your insatiable drive?
She learned throughout the vast millennia
Life needs a replicating molecule
Once freed from primordial soup
She’s proved to be not some atomic fool
Jean, Jean Genius, what makes you so intent to thrive?
Jean Genius, Jean Genius?
What is the origin of your insatiable drive?
Jean, Jean Genius,
Replicating molecules became the DNA
Jean Genius
That evolution used to spew the organisms of today
Thrive, Jean, thrive!

Sugar Baby
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Sugar Baby knows the candy that will blow my mind
Sugar Baby shows her sweetness to me all the time
She’s shiny and she’s sweet
And she knows I like to eat
All the purples and the greens
Although she has never seen me
Eating chocolate in my room
Sugar Baby tells me stories that make me smile
Sugar Baby sells me chances to improve my style
She’s really rather cute
In her candy striper suit
In which she dances to a beat
On a candy apple street
But she will never melt my heart
Sugar Baby, Sugar Baby, don’t be sad
Your tears will melt your cheeks
I love to play in your luscious land
But I’m really not so weak
That I can’t resist your toffee and your taffy
Though the way you lick a lollipop make me laffy
Sugar Baby, let me go
I’m on my way to a sweeter show

Julian the Boolean
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Julian
Julian the Boolean
Only has to choose, between two possibilities
And never has to loose, despite his lack of expertise
He has no preference, no matter right or wrong
His deference never lasts very long
Julian is everything and nothing
Changes his mind on a dime
His world could turn upside down
In the shortest span of time
His choices are simple,
He makes them with ease
He has nobody anywhere near him
Whom he needs to appease
So he goes back and forth
And never wonders why
Or questions which is better
He likes it low and high
Julian the Boolean
Is not bothered by dichotomy
It’s only data after all
And that’s a comfortable philosophy, for
Julian

Ben, Here, Standing
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Ben’s here standing the whole time
He hasn’t gone away
He doesn’t seem impatient
If he’s waiting, no one can say
Bus 422 has gone by once again
It’s the only bus in town
Ben won’t get in, he seems content to stand
No intention of sitting down
His black hat polished without a streak
His silver armbands jangle round
But apart from his fancy jewelry,
Ben doesn’t make a sound -- Ben doesn’t make a sound
She and Ben went on a long walk
They didn’t need to talk
They danced and ate and fornicated
Traded every secret
Bus 422 has gone by once again
It’s the only bus in town
Ben won’t get in, he seems content to stand
No intention of sitting down
His black hat polished without a streak
His silver armbands jangle round
But apart from his fancy jewelry,
Ben doesn’t make a sound

Your Pancakes

Your Pancakes
by UFO Hawaii & John Jones
Your pancakes are piled high.
Piled high they are
I climb the fluffy mountain,
forgetting to reach for a single star
Your pancakes piled high, higher than I’ve seen
In any purely normal breakfast dream
Piled high they are, one stacked upon another
Reaching through the clouds
I put one foot above the other
Never looking down
I shall slip and slide on the butter melted there,
A big thick big of creamy goodness, I don’t want to share
I keep on climbing every luscious layer,
Stopping only briefly to say a little prayer
Between the cakes I sometimes hide
It gets quite warm inside
I watch the maple syrup drip before my face
My time may yet be short here in this place
So I must try to reach your peak
Your pancake peak up in the sky
You tempt me with perfection, coax me
I’m drawn but I’m not sure why
Why control my appetite
With all my might
I want to reach the top
That’s where you’ll be, infinitely
Your pancakes just don’t stop
A big thicc pad of creamy goodness
